A well-structured 30-minute percussion lesson at Macon Music Academy is fast-paced, hands-on, and designed for real growth—whether you’re brand new or sharpening your skills.

🥁 Warm-Up & Technique (5–7 minutes)
We begin with hand techniques, rudiments, or coordination drills to build hand speed, control, and timing. This helps prepare the body and mind for focused playing.

🎵 Groove & Song Work (15–20 minutes)
We move into learning or improving drum beats, fills, or a song the student is working on. For beginners, this may mean mastering a basic rhythms; for more advanced students, it could involve more complex rhythms, dynamics, or improvisation.

✅ Wrap-Up & Weekly Goals (3–5 minutes)
We end by reviewing what was covered and assigning fun, clear practice goals—usually tied to a groove, fill, or short song section to keep momentum going between lessons.

Each lesson is energetic, encouraging, and personalized to match the student’s musical taste and goals. Students leave feeling challenged, motivated, and one step closer to becoming a confident percussionist.

At Macon Music Academy, our 60-minute drum set lessons are designed to maximize growth, creativity, and fun. Here’s what a well-structured session looks like:

🥁 Warm-Up & Technique (10–15 minutes)
We begin with hand and foot warm-ups—rudiments, stick control, and coordination drills—to build speed, control, and endurance. This sets the tone for focused drumming.

🎼 Groove & Song Work (20–25 minutes)
Next, we apply technique to real-world drumming—learning grooves, fills, and transitions within songs. Whether it’s rock, funk, jazz, worship, or pop, we tailor the content to match the student’s goals and interests.

🧠 Musical Concepts & Creativity (10–15 minutes)
We explore important concepts like timing, dynamics, structure, and improvisation. Students may work with a metronome, backing tracks, or create their own beats—learning to play musically, not just mechanically.

✅ Review & Practice Plan (5–10 minutes)
We close by reviewing progress, discussing any challenges, and creating a targeted practice plan for the week to reinforce growth and consistency.

I’ve always wanted to take guitar lessons, but never found the time. Signing up was super easy and booking early afternoon lessons with Logan has been awesome! He’s really patient even when the lesson is a little challenging for me. I would recommend.
